Google replaced + Search operator with verbatim search

Sometime back in our blog , we reported you that Google Stopped The + Search Command (http://www.submitshop.com/2011/10/26/google-stopped-the-search-command) and replaced it with double quotes (“”) due to the reason that Google found users typed the “+” operator in less than half a percent of all searches, and two thirds of the time, it was used incorrectly.

After this action of Google, lot of users asked for more easy search for exact searches and Google today introduced “verbatim search”. Its located in “More search tools” on the left-hand side.

As per Google, It will offer you following search benefits

making automatic spelling corrections
personalizing your search by using information such as sites you’ve visited before
including synonyms of your search terms (matching “car” when you search [automotive])
finding results that match similar terms to those in your query (finding results related to “floral delivery” when you search [flower shops])
searching for words with the same stem like “running” when you’ve typed [run]
making some of your terms optional, like “circa” in [the scarecrow circa 1963]

Google said that the new verbatim search tool will be rolled out to everyone over the next few days.

Google Stopped The + Search Command

Google has removed the + commonly which is commenly used in search results. If you will try to use + command Google will ignore this. I searched + CEO and good the following instruction form Google

The + operator has been replaced.

To search for an exact word or phrase, use double quotation marks: “ceo“

Now Google uses the quotation marks operator instead of the + operator. Search function still work but with quotation marks. Kelly from Google said

We’ve made the ways you can tell Google exactly what you want more consistent by expanding the functionality of the quotation marks operator. In addition to using this operator to search for an exact phrase, you can now add quotation marks around a single word to tell Google to match that word precisely. So, if in the past you would have searched for [magazine +latina], you should now search for [magazine "latina"].

My personal opinion is that now Google + is Google social networking and + search command will create a confusion among users.

SEO is not a Spam Google Explains

Search engine optimization ( SEO ) is not considered a spam by Google. The statement on this account is given by Matt Cutts head of the Google’s web spam fighting team.

Matt Says “We don’t consider SEO to be spam,” and added that SEO is “a valid way to help people find what they’re looking for via search engines.”

He agrees that there are many Black hat SEO which generate web spam or there are many SEO companies which uses spam method to improve ranking But Good SEO helps people in finding on search engine what they need

Latest Google Panda 2.5 Update Losers & Gainers

There has been news going around that Google Panda 2.5 update has happened. There has not been any official confirmations by Google itself.

Google has denied to share anything about what type of site, content targeted by panda 2.5 however their statement is as:

“We’re continuing to iterate on our Panda algorithm as part of our commitment to returning high-quality sites to Google users. This most recent update is one of the roughly 500 changes we make to our ranking algorithms each year.”

Discussions on various forums like Webmaster World and Blogs is going on and there are mix of losers and winners in this and Google’s own Android.com is in winner.

Views of other site owners and SEO’s are still coming in. Let us see what this update brings for all of us.

What we noticed is that more importance has been given to world top brands and Google own properties. Site having Video has been preferred.

Google have more clear view of Back Links in Webmaster tools, The new feature which is called “Links to your site” in Webmaster Tools is now updated to show you which domains link the most to your site (Although these links are not accurate) You will see, The domains linking most to your site, The pages on your site with the most links, Sampling of the anchor text external sites are using when they link to your site. Who links the most is easy to know and you can easily know if that good or bad for your web site based on links from any website, Clicking the “More >>” link under the “Who links the most” section will take you to a new view that shows a listing of all the domains that link to your site. Each domain in the list can be expanded to display a sample of pages from your site which are linked to by that domain. As per google “You can also see “Your most linked content” view from the overview page, Each page listed in the “All linked pages” view has an associated “More >>” link which displays all the domains linking to that specific page on your site.” Each domain listed leads to a report of all the pages from that domain linking to your specific page. This new feature will attract more webmasters and SEO’s towards google webmaster tools and they will have more data to know about possible downfall in ranking or penalty on website due to any link.
